Resume Reminders
Keep your resume brief and to the point. A paper resume that will be sent by regular mail should fit on one or two pages.
Avoid the deadly dozen resume mistakes: height, weight, health, gender, marital status, number of children, religion, ethnic origin, date of birth, reasons for leaving previous positions, photos and salary history.
Remember to update your resume regularly, adding details of training courses, new interests and areas of responsibility.
For a professional appearance, use the same fonts in your cover letter as in your resume. Potential employers will see that you pay attention to detail.
After you have printed your resume for the first time and are happy with how it looks, use better-quality paper for the finished result.
Online Resumes
Send your resume in plain text as the body of your email message. If it is sent only as an attachment, the recipient may not open it for fear of computer viruses.
Pay attention to the format specified by potential employers, and be aware that resumes containing graphics may not transmit successfully.
Use keywords or keyword phrases relevant to the employer's needs and your qualifications so that your resume can be easily found when an employer searches his database.
Include all the relevant information you think a prospective employer needs to know -- online resumes can be more than two pages.
